First Japan Country Manager, Well-known German Consumer Products Company
CDS was retained by a well-known German consumer products company to recruit their first Japan Country Manager. Although this company already enjoys a profitable business through a local distributor, they decided to establish a subsidiary office to further expand their business.
CDS recognized their unique need for a general manager with a hands-on entrepreneurial spirit, capable of starting up a new office, and sustaining growth in a highly competitive product category. We were retained to canvass both Japan and Europe based candidates who were both familiar with German business practices and the intricacies of setting up and managing new business in Japan. Through our network we were ultimately successful in identifying a candidate in Europe who has accepted the role. Our current project, working closely with the new country manager, is to fill all of his key managerial reports and to advise both him and HQ in Germany on other aspects of market entry.
