CDS Appoints New CEO and Plans Asian Expansion
The Board of Directors of CDS is pleased to announce the appointment of John Tucker as CEO with effect from November 1st, 2009. The founders of CDS, Simon Childs and Jason Dacaret, will assume new roles in the region with the Recruit Group, developing parallel executive search businesses in Hong Kong and Singapore under the RGF (Recruit Global Family) brand, and will remain on the Board of CDS.
John brings extensive leadership experience to CDS. This includes over 20 years working in Japan, across Asia, and in the United States, in large global enterprises as well as smaller, entrepreneurial businesses. His executive recruitment experience, Japanese language skills, and familiarity with both Western and local business practices all position him well to steer the continued growth and development of CDS.
Prior to joining CDS, John spent two years as Japan Country Manager for a global executive search and recruitment firm, where he led a turnaround of the business. Before that John worked in the U.S. for 10 years in senior roles for financial information and research companies, including a Reuters subsidiary and a Reuters-funded startup. During his first, 13-year stay in Japan, John managed the Reuters Television news agency business and launched the Reuters Financial TV Service in Japan and across Asia. Previously he served as Managing Director, North Asia, for Thomson Financial, where he established the Tokyo and Hong Kong offices, and was a founding member of IR Japan, the first investor relations agency in Tokyo.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Honors from Harvard University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He also completed a year of postgraduate study in Indian Philosophy as a Rotary International Scholar at the University of Madras (Chennai), India. In his free time, John enjoys fitness training and scuba diving. He resides in Tokyo with his wife Fumiko and 17-year-old daughter Lily.
